NormanMD Telemedicine Application
Originally called eMD Access, NormanMD is a convenient urgent care telemedicine service that allows you to connect with a doctor anywhere in Texas 24/7/365 about your immediate medical issues.

The Problem
In 2018, NormanMD approached us with a daunting request—to develop Patient- and Provider-facing applications that would facilitate their telemedicine service. What made this request unique was the complexity required for the MVP product. Not only were we designing for both web applications and mobile apps for both iOS and Android, but the product had to include a chat function, video visits, audio calls, physician notes, patient visit history, global and local provider document libraries, and the ability for a provider to switch between five different patient visits at once. To top it all off, an admin tool was also designed to manage provider scheduling, lookup tables, the global document library, and white-labeling of the application.
The Solution
Over the course of several months, I worked with the client to go through countless rounds of designs to determine the best way to implement their vision.
Our solution involved integrating systems for chat, video, audio, notifications, text messaging, emails, database operations, and beyond, wrapped up in four mobile apps and three desktop applications. The patient application had to be easy to use, as the technological literacy of the users, though varied, was relatively low. Alternatively, the provider application required a more complex interface to allow providers to access a patient’s medical information, visit history, and primary care provider all while a visit was in progress.
